Do you hate living within an HOA community? You're not alone. Thankfully there are many options in the million dollar (and higher) price range where you can live without having the hassle of needing to please a homeowner's association tattletale just to avoid nasty violation letters and fines from the community manager.
Often these will be older homes built in the pre-HOA eras, but there are also options of newer homes too - usually a little further out from the main city subdivisions. Keep in mind though that even though there are no HOAs to worry about with these homes, there might still be CC&Rs to deal with or city and town codes to follow. If you choose to purchase one of these HOA-free homes, remember you'll need to use your initial 10 day inspection period to research what rules, codes, and laws that your use of your property will need to abide by.
